This module explains why Save Heritage Indiana was founded and what unique gap it fills in protecting Indiana's heritage.
Two Friends Who Saw the Change
Save Heritage Indiana began when two friends, Daniel Poynter and Nathan Roberts, looked around their state and saw Indiana changing fast. Schools added more English as a Second Language classes every year. Communities felt the strain on housing, roads, and public services. Wages stayed flat for working Hoosiers while employers brought in more foreign labor. No major organization stood up specifically for Indiana families and the way of life built here over generations.
They decided someone had to act. National groups focus on the big picture in Washington but cannot match the focused, county-by-county pressure needed in state capitals. Daniel, a software engineer and former nonprofit founder, and Nathan, a political operative, brought different skills together. They launched SHI in late 2025 to fill that exact gap.
The Gap National Groups Cannot Fill
National organizations provide research and lobbying power, but they lack deep roots in every Indiana county. SHI builds volunteer density across 74 of 92 counties. This local presence gives legislators the political cover to pass bills like the FAIRNESS Act. State-level work also lets us respond quickly to local problems that national groups overlook.
Founders saw that without organized resistance, Indiana's heritage would slowly disappear.
Heritage means the ethno-cultural continuity of the people who built Indiana - the historic American population of this state, together with the language, institutions, faith, social trust, and way of life they created and passed down. If we do nothing, future generations inherit a different Indiana, one shaped by policies Hoosiers never voted for.

From Observation to Action
Clear problem: Mass migration strains resources and erodes the shared culture that binds communities.
Practical solution: A single-issue, state-focused group that recruits, trains, and deploys Hoosier volunteers.
Proven start: Within months SHI helped pass the FAIRNESS Act, showing real results are possible.
Our origin story is simple. Two friends refused to watch their home change without a fight. Today that fight belongs to every supporter who joins us. Together we protect what we inherited and pass a strong Indiana forward.
