Whereas, the committee’s proposed platform, while rightly rejecting many progressive assumptions, at times adopts language more commonly associated with DEI and moral relativism, which risks weakening the shared civic and cultural bonds necessary for a healthy commonwealth; and
Whereas, the proposed platform should speak more clearly to the need to preserve Indiana’s inherited cultural character, civic trust, religious heritage, and social cohesion, while ensuring that those who enter and settle in our communities are committed to the laws, customs, and moral foundations that have long sustained them; and
Whereas, the current direction of national immigration and border policy has placed new pressures on states and local communities, requiring a serious and principled response that protects the security, continuity, and long-term flourishing of our people for generations to come;
Whereas, in the words of Republican President Calvin Coolidge, "We must remember that every object of our institutions of society and government will fail unless America be kept American."
Mr Chairman, I move to amend the platform proposed by the platform committee pursuant to this attached document.
